Every day we’re getting closer to 2030 and the deadline for the UN Sustainable Development Goals that were set up to safeguard humanity and the planet. And although there is progress in some areas, it’s not advancing at the speed or scale required. We are now in the Decade of Action, and the urgency tells us that it’s time to find new ways of accelerating the change.
We need to stop business as usual, challenge best practice to invent next practice. In fact, what’s needed is nothing less than a fundamental change in how the system for social and planetary progress works. Trillions of dollars will be needed to fund the change, so donors who dare to do things differently and invest early in change need to step up.
At the non-profit H&M Foundation we are impatient visionaries, founded to accelerate progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Our mission is to co-create, fund and share solutions for the world’s most urgent challenges. To help safeguard the welfare of humanity we’re ushering the fashion industry to become planet positive, and we accelerate development for inclusive societies.
Sprung from our entrepreneurial heritage, it is in our core to disrupt traditional systems through unexpected collaborations. We believe that change is best achieved when a diverse group of people join forces and commit to a common agenda to solve complex challenges. For us, that means creating agile ecosystems of individuals, organizations, businesses, and academia sharing a mutual goal. We prototype together, try, fail, learn, and try again until solutions with the power to make a difference in the world can be shared and scaled. There is hard work ahead, but the good news is, there is still time to act.
Now is the time to be impatient.
Now is the time to be a catalyst for change.
