A strong will to contribute to positive change also beyond the company sphere has always been the case for the Stefan Persson family, founders and main owners of the H&M Group. The values were passed along from the father and grandfather Erling Persson. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to develop new ideas by bringing the right people together.
This is a core principle of the privately funded H&M Foundation as well, and it allows the family to engage with and give back to society in more ways.
The H&M Foundation’s mission is to co-create, fund and share solutions for the world’s most urgent challenges. We are now in the Decade of Action and with less than 10 years to go to deliver the goals by 2030, we must all use this momentum and keep pushing towards achieving the goals, so we can create a better world for us all.
Trillions of dollars will be needed to fund the transformation, so donors who dare to do things differently, invest in early innovation and explore new methods need to step up. There is hard work ahead, but the good news is, there is still time to act. There has never been a more urgent time to be a catalyst for change.
