Fresh water is essential for all aspects of life, and water resources are key to sustainable development in health, education, work, equality, and environmental protection. By managing water sustainability, we also contribute to economic growth.
In the past decade, great progress has been made whereby over 90% of the world’s population now has access to improved sources of drinking water. Still, billions of people lack these basic rights, resulting in thousands of deaths due to preventable, water-related diseases every day. Clearly, a lot of work is yet to be done.
