GCA – Nominators

A diverse group of experts is on the lookout for early-stage innovations by changemakers with the commitment, capacity, and initiative to solve problems and potentially advance the transformation of the textile industry.

As part of our work to take the Global Change Award to a new level we have refined our selection process moving away from open applications to an application process centred around a nomination-based system.

We believe that by using a nomination-based framework we can broaden our search and find changemakers we wouldn’t have otherwise found. By engaging experts and thought leaders, we will broaden our winners’ profiles, enrich the GCA ecosystem, our own network, and hopefully increase the impact of the GCA.

Our nominators, who consist of a diverse group of experts, will be asked to nominate between 1 -10 early-stage changemakers based on pre-defined criteria as well as their potential to advance the transformation of the textile industry.

Our nominators include, but are not limited to, organisations such as universities, research institutes, governmental organisations, non-profits, brands, suppliers and GCA alumni. Once nominated, the changemakers are invited into an application process where their ideas will be assessed by the H&M Foundation and a wide range of technology, business, fashion, and sustainability experts, who will review, examine and select the winners.

We believe that by using a nomination-based framework we can broaden our search and find changemakers we wouldn’t have otherwise found.

We are delighted to be a nominator for this year’s Global Change Award, showcasing the designers and innovators who are reshaping the future of fashion by transforming the way products are designed, made, and used. The GCA aligns with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s vision to bring a circular economy for fashion to reality. By embracing circular economy principles across the fashion supply chain, starting with design, we can tackle global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss.

Who can be a nominator for GCA?

We want to collaborate with a diverse group of experts who will bring their own expertise and perspective. Our nominators include organisations such as universities, research institutes, governmental organisations, charities, non-profits, international development agencies, accelerators and incubators, industry associations, brands, suppliers and previous GCA winners. Are you interested in becoming a nominator? If so, please reach out to [email protected].

The expert panel

We will involve a reference group of experts, predominantly from the textile industry, to screen the candidates nominated by the nominators. Finalists will also be reviewed by an expert panel before a final decision being is taken by the H&M Foundation board. The members of the GCA expert panel are participating pro bono and they have extensive knowledge within fashion, business, investments, entrepreneurship and innovation. The expert panel will be announced in the near future/early 2025.
