Changemaker programme
We are looking for changemakers who can help decarbonise fashion. The aim is to propel the textile industry towards net-zero emissions by accelerating innovation that benefits both people and the planet. Our vision is to spark industry-wide transformation towards a socially inclusive and planet positive future.
Curated together with our partners, the GCA Changemaker Programme is a year-long support programme designed to elevate the changemakers’ ideas while also focusing on personal growth and the adoption of a systems thinking mindset. We empower them to turn their brilliant ideas into impactful innovations. The aim is to equip them with new skillsets and connections as well as an understanding of their own ability to drive change, the textile industry at large, and a holistic mindset – promoting solutions that will benefit both people and the planet.
The programme – which includes the winners physically meeting up across three week-long programmes over the course of the year in different locations – also comprises of tailor-made modules whereby winners are given the opportunity to choose the ones best suited to their needs. The year begins with a joint core programme, gradually incorporating more tailored content as the year progresses. During a first week, winners will have the opportunity to “design their year”, including choosing their preferred tailored menu modules, which are then scheduled with appropriate network contacts.
It is comprised of three tracks;
- personal growth,
- idea development,
- systems thinking.
These are weighted equally, with a different focus per in-person week. Each track includes both core and tailored modules.
What happens after the Changemaker Programme?
The GCA Changemaker Programme is designed to set the changemakers up for continued growth and support. Our grant pay-outs and programme aim to prepare them for long-term success beyond graduation. While our primary focus is on supporting the current cohort, we actively follow up with, check in on, and promote our alumni where possible. Upon graduation, alumni also become crucial members of our extended network. We provide them with opportunities to collaborate in supporting future changemakers and to help develop and enhance the GCA over time.
GCA opened up doors and allowed us to build a network in three textile hubs around the world. And at the time, what really helped us was the financial contribution, the help in marketing materials, and the recognition in the industry: we were taken seriously.
