H&M Foundation makes donation to support children and families in Sri Lanka

The H&M Foundation is donating USD 250,000 to Save the Children to support emergency relief efforts in Sri Lanka following the impact of Cyclone Ditwah.

Sri Lanka is facing a severe humanitarian emergency following the landfall of the cyclone in the end of November 2025. Intense rainfall and strong winds have caused widespread flooding and landslides across the country. More than 1.46 million people have been affected, with many families displaced and seeking shelter in schools and public buildings now being used as emergency evacuation sites.

Focusing on children

Disrupted schooling, unsafe living conditions and limited access to basic services can have long-lasting effects on children’s wellbeing. This donation is focused on providing immediate, child-centred support through Save the Children’s response.

The funding will contribute to:

  • Emergency WASH, improving access to clean water and sanitation to reduce health risks
  • Child protection, helping create safer environments for children during displacement
  • Education in emergencies, supporting children to continue learning even when schools are damaged or closed
  • Multi-purpose cash assistance, enabling families to meet their most urgent needs with dignity
