The H&M Foundation’s mission is to support the textile industry in halving its greenhouse gas emissions every decade, while promoting a just and fair transition for both people and the planet. Key to this mission is communication. In a world flooded with misinformation, climate denial, and ineffective doom-and-gloom narratives, we need strong, positive stories to inspire action.
Enter New Zero World (NZW), a programme under the Global Brain Foundation. NZW is dedicated to sparking climate action, especially within the creative sector, including marketers, advertisers, art directors, influencers, and communicators. These are the people shaping today’s climate conversations.
Partnership focus
1. Young creatives programme – empowering the next generation of climate storytellers
Young professionals in creative fields often lack the knowledge and urgency to use their talents for large-scale impact.
NZW will provide them with an education programme backed by industry giants like Cannes Lions. This initiative will equip emerging creatives from marketing, advertising, media, fashion, tech, and influencers with the tools to craft compelling climate narratives. Our aim is to prepare the next wave of communication leaders to fight misinformation and drive action.
2. Climate communications handbook and digital knowledge hub
Climate communicators need ongoing support to stay equipped with the latest knowledge and tools.
Building on 2023’s white paper “A New Era in Climate Communications”, the 2024 edition will research new trends and provide essential education and tools. This will help shape fresh climate narratives and support a just transition to a sustainable future through the power of communication and creativity.
The outcome is a concise handbook and digital toolbox for creative professionals in communication and advertising, aimed at enhancing climate literacy and reducing greenwashing.
Through the Climate Communications Accelerator initiative, we’re not just looking to inform – we’re looking to transform. We want to tell stories that inspire, challenge, and drive us all towards a future where we live within planetary boundaries.
