The situation in Myanmar and Bangladesh is a humanitarian disaster of historic proportion. In response to the urgent situation, the H&M Foundation is making a second donation to the Red Cross, reaching 223,700 people.
On December 22, the tropical storm Tembin went in over the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, home to some 20 million people. In response to this, the H&M Foundation donates 100,000 USD to the Philippines Red Cross.
The humanitarian crisis in Cox’s Bazar is one of the region’s largest man-made humanitarian crises in decades. Needs are also enormous within Rakhine State in Myanmar. To help saves lives and reduce suffering among those affected by the conflict, both in Myanmar and Bangladesh, the H&M Foundation is donating 200,000 USD to the Red Cross relief effort.
In addition to the human tragedy that follows in the wake of South Asia’s worst flooding in years, Save the Children warns that children’s education and long-term well-being is also put at risk. H&M foundation donates important support to Save the Children’s work in India and Bangladesh where 1.3 million children are currently out of school.
Due to heavy rainfall, Peru is suffering the worst floods in almost 30 years. The H&M Foundation has donated $100,000 to The Red Cross to support people who have been affected by the extreme weather, and give them support to rebuild their lives.
Following the worst drought in decades, a major food security emergency is ongoing in southern Ethiopia. The H&M Foundation now makes their third donation to Save the Children – totaling $600,000 – to support their work in this region.
The H&M Foundation is donating $100,000 to support Save the Children in their emergency relief efforts in Ethiopia during the current drought crisis. The support from H&M Foundation will be directed towards food and nutrition, clean water, sanitation and hygiene as well as basic education to children in affected areas.
H&M Foundation has decided to donate USD 500,000 to support the organization UNHCR in their emergency relief work, offering refugees food, medical care and shelter as well as migration services.
H&M Foundation has decided to donate $100,000 to support the organization Save the Children in their work to help the victims of the earthquake in Nepal.
The H&M Foundation, an independent non-profit global foundation, today makes a donation to the victims and the families affected by the Rana Plaza collapse two years ago. This is the second donation from the H&M Foundation. H&M has never had any production at any of the factories situated in Rana Plaza, so the H&M Foundation bases the decision for donation on humanitarian grounds. The donation of $100,000 will go exclusively to further support the victims and their families through the fund managed by the UN body the International Labor Organization.
